Subject index

What is taught, and how far it goes

Tuition is offered in the subjects below only. If a subject is not listed, it is not taught here — and you will be told so rather than passed to someone unfamiliar with the specification.

01

Mathematics

KS3 · GCSE Foundation & Higher · A-level Year 12

Algebraic fluency first, then past-paper technique. Higher-tier students work through a graded problem bank; Year 12 covers pure modules alongside mechanics or statistics, matched to the school's route.

02

English Language & Literature

KS3 · GCSE · A-level

Close reading, essay structure and timed writing. Set texts are read in full rather than summarised, and every essay comes back annotated against the mark scheme the school actually uses.

03

Combined & Triple Science

KS3 · GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Required practicals, six-mark answers and the calculation topics that quietly cost marks. Sessions can focus on a single science or rotate across the three in the run-up to mocks.

04

French

KS3 · GCSE · Speaking preparation

Tense accuracy, translation drills and role-play rehearsal with recorded feedback, so the speaking exam is familiar territory rather than the first time a student has spoken at length.

05

11+ and entrance papers

Years 4–6 · English, maths, reasoning

Paced over two to four terms, never crammed. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning are taught as methods, with interview practice added in the final term for schools that require it.

06

Study skills & revision coaching

Years 9–13 · Subject-neutral

For students whose difficulty is organisation rather than content: revision timetables, retrieval practice, note systems and a realistic plan for exam fortnight. Often runs alongside subject tuition.

How it runs

Four steps from enquiry to review

Nothing is booked before the diagnostic session, and nothing is charged before the plan is agreed in writing.

01

Enquiry call

A short conversation about the year group, exam board, recent grades and what has already been tried. If Willow Form is not the right fit, that is said at this stage.

02

Diagnostic session

A full first session spent on assessment: a topic audit, a short piece of written work and a look at the student's own notes. It is a normal paid session, not an extra fee.

03

Termly plan

A written plan listing the topics for the term, the order they will be covered in, and the work set between sessions. Parents receive a copy before the second session.

04

Review point

Halfway through each term the plan is reviewed against mock results and school feedback, then adjusted. Ending tuition at a review point requires no notice period.

Approach

Taught slowly enough to stick

Most students arriving here do not need more content. They need the gaps underneath the current topic closed, and a method they can repeat without help. Sessions move at the speed that allows that, which sometimes means spending a full hour on one idea.

  • Work between sessionsShort and specific — usually two past-paper questions or one timed paragraph. Anything longer tends not to get done, and unfinished work teaches nothing.
  • MarkingWritten work is marked before the next session with the mark scheme visible, so the student can see where the marks were awarded rather than only the total.
  • Talking to schoolWith your permission, a termly summary can be shared with a form tutor, head of year or SENCO, written in the language the school uses.
  • Exam-time supportDuring study leave, sessions can be rearranged to the morning of a paper or dropped to fortnightly without losing the slot for the following term.

Materials

Past papers, set texts and the problem bank are provided. Families are never asked to buy a workbook.

Questions

What parents ask first

Do you teach our exam board?

The board is confirmed on the enquiry call before anything is booked. Planning is done against that specification, including the correct required practicals, set texts and formula sheet. If your board's option modules fall outside what is taught here, you will be told during the call rather than after the first session.

What actually happens in the first session?

It is a diagnostic hour: a short topic audit, one piece of written or worked evidence, and a look at the student's existing notes and last report. No teaching plan is written until that evidence exists. You receive a summary afterwards, and you are free to stop there.

Is work set between sessions?

Yes, but deliberately small — around twenty to thirty minutes. It is always tied to the next session so that not doing it is visible immediately. Students carrying heavy school homework in exam terms can have it reduced to a single question.

Can sessions be online?

They can, at the same fee, using a shared whiteboard so working is visible on both sides. Families often mix the two: in person during term, online during study leave or when a student is away. Younger 11+ students are usually better in person for the first term.

How much notice do you need to move a session?

Twenty-four hours, and rescheduling is free within the same week where a slot exists. Illness is never charged. Fixture clashes, school trips and family commitments are expected during a year and do not affect your regular slot.

Will you write to the school?

With your written permission, a termly summary can go to a form tutor, head of year or SENCO. It covers topics taught, progress against the plan and what would help in class. Nothing is sent to a school without a parent seeing it first.

We only need a few weeks before an exam — is that possible?

That is what the six-session revision block is for. Dates are fixed at the start, there is no ongoing commitment, and the focus is paper technique rather than new content. If it becomes clear that more time is needed, that is said plainly instead of extending the block.
